Both Dremel pet grooming tools are easy to use, cordless, & gentle for your pet. The 7300 PT is the original pet grooming tool powered by a Ni-Cd battery, has 2-speed options, & can't be used with the AT01 PGK.
What Dremel battery accessories do you recommend using with the 7300 PT?
Keep a spare batter handy and charged up to avoid nail grooming time interruptions, the 755-01 4.8 Volt Battery Pack is recommend. The 756-01 3-hour battery charger is also recommended.
What Pet Grooming accessories should be used with the 7300 PT?
Choose from #407 1/2-inch 60 Grit Sanding bands with mandrel or #408 for just the replacement sanding bands only.
When should the Pet Grooming accessories be replaced?
Results may vary, but Pet Grooming accessories generally should be replaced when the grit wears down and is no longer as effective at trimming the nail.

Dremel 7300-PT costs a bit more than older generations on the market, but the price is well worth it. If you buy from sites like Amazon.com or Chewy.com, you can find a good deal; in general, this tool costs around $40. For this price, you get not only the sanding tool, but additional sanding drums, a wrench to put the tool together, a 4.8V battery, and a 3-hour battery charger. Due to the powerful sanding drums, the tool is intended to be exclusively used on dogs. The tool feels comfortable to use; it weighs about one pound, and the handle has a rubber coating that prevents the tool from sliding in your hands. Additionally, it has a low and high setting to adjust to the size of the dog’s nails. The low setting allows for rounding off nails on all dogs; this prevents the nails from getting sharp and uneven. This means no more scratch marks from a newly groomed pooch! Additionally, the rotary tool is cordless, which means you can groom your dog’s nails at any location and to maximum precision.
One drawback of the Dremel tool is the assembly of it. The instructions are poorly explained, and the directions contain no visuals to aid in this task. While I browsed online to see if I could find more information about it, I noticed that there are numerous of consumers that complained over the same issue. Another thing you must be aware of, is how long you hold the sanding tools against the dog’s nail. The tool should not be held against the dog’s nail for more than a few seconds because it gets hot fast; you must make sure to frequently change the angle of the tool. The Dremel has a powerful rotation and should be kept away from children to prevent it from getting tangled into their hair and clothing. While it is not a danger to adults, it is important to pay attention to avoid any accidents.
Unlike nail clippers, the Dremel makes some noise during the grinding. If your dog has never experienced a sanding tool before, it is likely that they might be nervous at first. It is important to start slow; let the dog get used to the sound of it, then tap their nails a few times with the tool before proceeding. I own two dogs and they are different in nature. While my youngest and spirited dog only needed a few minutes to get used to the tool, my older and cautious dog took a while to get comfortable with the tool. However, in the long run, your dog will thank you for a quick and safe grooming. Furthermore, it removes the chance of cracks and pressure on the nails. The Dremel eliminates the danger of causing your dog pain by cutting into the nerve with regular nail clippers. One advice I have for using this tool, or any other nail clipping tool, is to use a flashlight and sharpie. Illuminate the nail to see exactly where the nerve is located and mark it with a sharpie. This way, you know how far back you can cut before biting into the nerve; which is the pink part inside the dog’s nail.
The Dremel 7300-PT has a two-year warranty. I have had to contact customer service once to order additional pieces for my tool; and while speaking to a representative, I discovered that their customer service is professional, and the delivery was fast and accurate. As far as durability is concerned, the sanding bands do not wear out easily. The sanding bands lasted for a few months before I needed to replace them. Additionally, the tool comes with several sanding bands when you purchase it. The battery charger works fast, and the tool is ready to use after three hours. I volunteer at a local dog kennel where we use a Dremel tool. We can cut several dogs’ nails before needing to recharge it, however, the battery quickly loses life when it is not in use.
Overall, the Dremel 7300-PT is my favorite tool for dog grooming; this is also why I am giving it a 5/5 star rating. It has an affordable price and I have no fear of hurting the dogs, or cutting the nails wrong. If you are one of the dog owners who brings their pet to the groomer or veterinarian out of fear of doing it wrong, not only will this tool will save you the trip, but also the $10-15 it costs to have it done. Without doubt, you will not go wrong with Dremel 7300-PT.

I made this a 5 star review for many reasons and I will tell you why below. The only negative I can give is the directions. It's a huge pamphlet. You would think the step by step directions on how to put a band on would make thing easy, but I still couldn't figure out how to put it together from the directions alone. I had to get online and read other reviews and watch a video to put the Dremel together. Once I figured it out, I will be able to do it again with no problem.
-The Dremel comes with, 1) A two prong wall charger that you plug into a wall outlet. The bottom of the Dremel has a detachable battery that you place into the wall charger. Once the Dremel is charged, it will hold the charge for several sessions. After I trim my dogs' nails, I put it back in the box and the next month it still has a good charge. I have yet to recharge the Dremel; 2) 5 sanding drums (4- 1/2" 60 grit sanding bands and 1- 1/2" sanding drum). The sanding drum works best on small to medium pets. 3) a wrench to use to replace the bands.
- The Dremel has three settings LO, HI and OFF. I find that the LO setting is too slow for filing my dog's nails. I use the HI setting for my two dogs.
- This Dremel files very quickly at the HI speed. You have to be very careful and just lightly touch the nail. Do NOT leave on the nail for more than a second. You can always repeat touching the nail until you get the desired effect.
- The light nails, like my Whippet's nails, are very easy to file and the quick is very visible.
- Dark nails like my Goldendoodle's nails can be very stressful to file. It is impossible to see the quick from the side of the nail. My tip is to do quick touches until the tip of the nail reveals a black dot. That is where the quick is and you don't want to continue filing.
- If your dog is not used to the sound of the Dremel, make sure you turn it on near them for a while to allow your pet to get used to the sound. The HI mode is definitely louder and can easily scare your pet if you just turn it on and try to file on the spot. Give them a chance to get used to it.
- If you have a puppy, get the puppy used to laying on his/her back early on. Give him/her belly rubs and treats to make it a pleasant experience. I am able to lay my 6 month old Whippet puppy on my lap to file his nails. He is definitely a bit nervous, but will lay his head against my neck, which seems to calm him. My 3 year old rescued Goldendoodle is a little more nervous with the Dremel, but with gentle pets and treats, she will let me file them. The Dremel is perfect for her dew claws. Dew claws are such a nuisance and can get caught on things, so it's very important to keep those filed down.
Don't be intimidated by this Dremel. It will save you time and money once you get comfortable with it.
