I'm not even joking. I always sleep better knowing this thing is right by me at night next to my bear spray when sleeping outside in questionable or really remote places. The weight of this thing and that claw could do some serious damage if it ever came to it. Plus, this hammer is weighted as well as how I imagine a small mace would be in older times. The handle and size make for a perfect fit attached to my adventure belt on my hip (sort of like bike messengers who carry their U locks the same way).Plus I feel better carrying my weapon with me when I am the most vulnerable (relieving myself). When nature calls I can take it with me to help dig *that* hole that is required. I imagine I'm reducing the life of this hammer by using the claw as a rudimentary pick and shovel, but it works and is one less thing to worry about. Hell, if I'm going to carry that weight around might as well put it to good use.
